Of those 1217 women, the team found 537 (44%) with lymphadenopathy. These women had enlarged lymph nodes on their mammograms, ultrasound, or both reports. The study further investigated to reveal that the lymph nodes developed mostly within 71 days from the day of vaccination. Many of these patients suffered from this abnormality for another 43 weeks after their second dose of vaccination.
While the experts suggested that swelling caused by vaccination generally subsides within a few days, the team found something very astonishing. Wolfson noted that patients who delayed their screenings for 4-6 weeks after vaccination had slightly reactive lymph nodes at the time of the test.
Moreover, the study further unleashed that many of these women continued to have the swallowed nodes for as long as 10 months after the vaccination. This finding undoubtedly dismissed the notion that time would restore everything to normal. Therefore, the researchers felt an urgent need to revise the guidelines based on the latest findings.

After verifying all the outcomes closely, the team of researchers found it necessary to suggest an immediate check-up after vaccination. Hence, the team recommended a zero-delay mammogram after vaccination for all women.
The results revealed that reactive nodes continue to exist for several months after vaccination, contrary to the expectation of their fast disappearance. The team further suggested that, if needed, the patients should go for invasive biopsy or further imaging to confirm the progress and extent of swelling.
